Marketing Specialist

Background
The Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA) have recently been awarded £150k by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA) to sponsor the Making Richmond Shine project which is part of the Vibrant and Sustainable High Street Fund. The project seeks to strengthen the economic, social and cultural vitality of the Town and environs. Working alongside colleagues, Richmond Yorkshire Community Interest Company (CIC) will support the delivery of the programme on behalf of ORBTA, Richmond Town Council and other partners and will complete a range of projects by December 2027.
The programme seeks to raise the profile of Richmond as a tourist destination by implementing a strategy of promotion of events, promoting new activities and developing capacity. The aspiration is to enhance Richmond’s visibility, accessibility and vibrancy through coordinated investment in digital presence, promotional activity, events, attractions and physical infrastructure. The programme aims to make Richmond widely discoverable, irresistible, and easy to visit. The goal is to improve Richmond’s visibility as a cultural, sustainable and heritage rich destination.
The role
A key element is the successful marketing of all projects within the programme and raising the profile of current activities already in train. Richmond CIC are looking to recruit a talented and experienced individual who will develop and deliver the marketing aspect of the programme. Timely and effective outputs will be essential with a keen sense of outcomes that will follow. As the programme will be completed by December 2027, the main period of activity is June 2026 to October 2027.
You will share a passion for the town and its people, be experienced, be a self-starter and strong team member who can demonstrate success in previous marketing roles undertaken. Your skills will include an ability to draft promotional materials, plan promotional strategies, manage social media, and analyse data to provide insight into customer trends. You will be creative and accomplished at creating written and visual content.

Application will be via an Expression of Interest and CV, followed by an informal interview with colleagues from ORBTA and the CIC. The oversight of the role will be provided by the CIC.
